Hey ya'll! Welcome to dvastyl, the only page that provides truth, love, and good ol' common sense. I am Tanisha aka "Tee", a natural born teacher from the Los Angeles area. I have been teaching for 11 years and have worn just about every hat. I have 2 beautiful and highly remarkable children, ages 4 and 3 that keep me on my toes.

Technology is on the rise and plays a vital role in education. It is through new advances and available resources that educators are able to implement technology in the classroom. Being able to access sites such as ISTE, CLRN, and Edutopia, to name a few, teachers are able to involve their students in the learning and self-assessment process using innovative strategies and tools. To check out some cool ways for students to profile their work, check out Pupil Pages.
Tanisha,
You have a way with words. If we ever have to write an essay for a group project, I want to be in your group.-Catherine L.
I am extremely greatful for having the opportunity to learn new ways to do things in the classroom. Survey Monkey is such a good tool to use for assessments, study guides, creating special occasion messages, etc... the list goes on and on. I'm addicted!
Question on Educational Technology
With the direction that education is going, by complying to the NCLB mandate, will grants be made available to schools in underprivileged communities or are educators expected to just do their best in helping students meet the technology standards?
I really appreciated your focus on the things an administrator needs to do to create a culture that supports teachers teaching with a passion. Too often we believe that there is only one way to teach. I know that too often I have seen techniques or lessons taught by great teachers and thought that I had to be able to teach the same thing in the same way or else I wasn't a good teacher. This article was very reassuring. It was nice to see something in writing that said teachers had their own personality as a variable in their teaching and that it is ok. One of your statements pointed out how administrators need "to engage staff in on-going professional developments that spark the torch inside of them." While that is a truth I deeply believe it also intimidates me a little, making me remember how I was "frighten by all the 'little ones.'" I think it is a noble goal but also a daunting task, and I look forward to the challenge.
